Macula Networks

Terms of Service

Effective date: July 27, 2026

These terms govern your use of maculanetworks.com. By using the site, you agree to them. They are short on purpose — the honest version fits on one page.

What this site is

This website describes the services Macula Networks provides to independent optometry practices, publishes educational articles about HIPAA compliance, and offers a free self-assessment and call scheduling. Using the website does not make you a client. Services are provided under separate written agreements, and nothing on this site is an offer that binds either of us until we both sign one.

Educational content, not legal advice

The articles and resources on this site are general educational information about HIPAA and practice technology. They are not legal advice, and they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney or a formal assessment of your specific environment. Regulations change, and how they apply depends on facts we can't see from here.

The self-assessment

The free self-assessment produces a grade based entirely on your own answers. It is a self-reported screening tool, not an audit, a risk analysis, or a certification. A good grade does not mean your practice is compliant, and no result creates any warranty or guarantee about your compliance posture. Its job is to tell you whether a real assessment is worth your time.

Do not enter patient information into the assessment or any other form on this site. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect and why.

Booking a call

Times requested through the Book a Call page are requests, not confirmed appointments, until we confirm by email. If a conflict arises, we'll offer you the nearest alternative.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the site: no attempting to breach its security, no scraping or bulk-harvesting content, no submitting forms with false identity or automated tools, and no using the site to transmit anything unlawful. We may block access that violates these terms.

Our content

The content on this site — text, graphics, logo, and the assessment itself — belongs to Macula Networks. You're welcome to link to it and to share it with attribution. Don't republish it as your own or use it commercially without permission.

Third-party links

Where we link to other sites (for example, regulator guidance), we do so because it's useful — we don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is." We work to keep it accurate and available, but we don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Macula Networks will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this website, and our total liability arising from the website will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). This limitation applies to the website only — services we deliver to clients are governed by their own agreements.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from use of this website will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas.

Changes

If we update these terms, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
